This year has been super busy for us so far. But now I'm back with another top tip, and one I briefly touched on before, but it's definitely worth mentioning again: removing legacy complexity. Onboarding processes can be needlessly complex, slow, and outdated. A lot of the time, an old or poor system is at fault, which by its very nature is difficult to use or not mobile-friendly. But just as often, it's because no one has taken the time to scope out just what a new hire has to go through in order to join your organization. Needless forms and documents, multiple requests for the same information, unclear or inaccurate guidance for the role they've accepted. All of this creates a poor experience, which leads to anxiety, confusion, frustration, and possibly even dropout. Put the employee at the heart of your experience. Slap anyone who tells you, "We've always done it like this," and start to create a process that everyone can enjoy.
