Superman versus Zod. Harry versus Voldemort. Peats versus carrots. Just like all these legendary foes, compliance and experience don't always see eye to eye. But it doesn't have to be that way. People understand the need for compliance when starting a new job, the need for security checks, information, forms, photos, scans, signatures, and tick boxes all in the right places. What they start to tire of is a badly managed process, multiple systems or forms asking for the same information twice, requests for information that aren't relevant to their role, delays or hold-ups that just aren't communicated or explained. What I'm trying to say is that compliance is not a bad thing if you still think about it as an experience. The better, more efficient, and less painful you can make it, the better. Then it becomes a small part of a great overall experience. Check out my last top tip on reducing legacy complexity, as in doing so, you'll probably be able to unearth and overhaul many of the compliance headaches you come across. Finally, make sure a new employee is aware of the onboarding process they're about to go through, and keep them up to date throughout. It's not rocket science, and something as simple as this will put them at ease and prepare them for the army of forms that follow.
