In my last few onboarding top tip videos, I've been discussing what a great onboarding process should entail. And top tip number 26 is the cherry on the cake of a great experience, and that's to get your new hires thinking longer term. Onboarding rightly focuses on helping new hires get under the skin of your culture, understanding how to perform in role, and connecting them with people who are going to help them fit in and shine. But if you want to keep talent longer than a year or two, you need to get them thinking about where their career can go in your organization. So even though they've only just joined, make sure part of your onboarding process is about their long-term future and how you as a business are going to help them achieve their career goals. Then make sure they have access to everything they need from learning and development tools to training mentors and support to career paths.
