Top tip number 31 follows straight on from number 30, How you do business, and focuses on your organization's technology and apps. The tools your emerging talent will use day-to-day to do their job. There's a common misconception these days that just because young people have their phones surgically attached to their hands, they must be techno-savvy. No application too complex, no program unknown or unused. But this is often not the case. Even with the most common applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and even Word. And even if they have used them, they're likely not as fluent as you'd like. A little bit of training here will be worth, its weighting gold once they start. So make sure your pre-boarding includes any app you are expecting them to use. Best of all, there'll likely be hundreds of free training videos online you can share too. So don't worry if you don't have internal training resources to hand.
