Top tip number 34 is arguably one of the most important elements of any great pre-boarding experience. The ability to make friends ask most people what they love about work. And nine times out of 10 they'll say the people and it's very likely they're thinking about some very specific people as they say it. Giving your new talent the opportunity to connect with their fellow peers and start to build friendships during pre-boarding is hugely important. Face-to-face and online events can work wonders here, as can portals, where cohorts can come together and connect via social wall or even instant messaging. It helps to give some guidance to newbies. After all, you want the interactions to be professional, but encouraging people to reach out and make friends or connect them to each other and to your organization, and that will help reduce dropout.
