This top tip is focused on line managers. If you're looking for them to take ownership of onboarding, my next tip is to create a line manager's onboarding guide and checklist. The guide will help them understand why delivering a great experience will be of a big benefit to them and their team. And the checklist of tasks ensures they know exactly what's expected of them as part of the process. We find breaking those tasks up into stages really helps to ensure they know what they're meant to be doing and when they're meant to be doing it, for each of their new hires. This pack could be sent to them each time a new person joins their team. Or if you have the right onboarding technology, one name leaps to mind, it can do all this and more, including nudging your line managers for you to ensure they don't forget a specific task at a critical moment in a new hire's onboarding process.
